The Assistant

Liz Wilson was thoroughly educated in fashion buying.  She graduated at the top of her class and was promised hope of employment during an internship.  In the end, the internship was just an internship.  Nonetheless, her sight was set on women's ready to wear by her favorite designer, Molly Greene.  Her style was bold, colorful, unique, and daring.  Every F/W season and S/S season kept established buyers on their toes because Molly Greene was inventive and never recycled her signature brand.  For this reason, Liz's closet was filled with Molly Greene clothes.

The Molly Greene website showed an opening for assistant buyer.  Liz was in excited shock and applied in a heartbeat...

...She did not get the job.  In pure devastation, she boldly asked why...for future reference of course.

"Lack of experience" was the common response.  Liz was more and more furious by this response because she just graduated and would naturally have no experience.  How, then, would she be able to get a job?  At this point, Liz was submitting applications on a daily basis to anyone offering an interview.

She owed in student loans and was increasingly nervous about the possibility of collections knocking on her apartment door.  She needed a job now.

Liz knew the fashion industry well, followed all trends - men, women, jewelry, accessories - and was fully prepared to be a buyer.  Major designers were not hiring at her level.  Indie designers looked for established applicants with experience to more professionally boost their sales.  She simply could not catch a break!

One day, Liz was scrolling through updated online job boards and came across an assistant position.  She was more than qualified and applied immediately.

The job - Personal Assistant to a luxury bridal salon owner.

After a thorough interview, she was hired...and after some time was promoted to assistant buyer.

A job is a job.
